I am David R. Schneider, age 53. My interests include my family,
music, physics, philosophy and psychology. I am a software developer by
profession. Below are some links to some of my creative works.
Family:
I have been with my wife, Cindy, for over 20 years. Our kids are Eric, Amanda and Flint. Check them out here: Family Pix. Get another glimpse into my life here.
Music:
I write and record original songs, primarily in the "rock"
genre. I perform most of it myself. To check out my latest material, click
here: Sea of Joy. and
Snowball.
I am also a big fan of the classic British rock greats: Beatles, Who,
Hendrix, and Clapton/Cream. In the newer bands, my
tastes run to Jane's Addiction, Verve Pipe, Aimee Mann, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Duncan Sheik and the Foo Fighters.
Philosophy:
I am a dabbler in the philosophy of science. Much of the material I am
interested in is hyper-technical, and involves the nature and meaning of scientific
theories. See for example Nancy Cartwright's How the Laws of Physics
Lie; also Causality and Chance in Modern Physics by David Bohm.
I have written several original papers on the subject of philosophy:
David Schneider, Theory Theory: An Introduction to Nexialism, 1987. Click on:
Nexialism
David Schneider, Hume's Determinism Refuted, 1987. Click on: Hume's Determinism Refuted
Psychology:
I am also a student of human behavior (who isn't?) and am especially
interested in theories of human behavior. My favorite work is from R.
Nisbett and L. Ross, Human Inference: Strategies and Shortcomings in Social
Judgment, 1980.
David Schneider, An Introduction to the Nexial Theory of Human Behavior,
1987. Coming soon, check back.
Physics:
I am especially interested in quantum theory and relativity.
Authors I enjoy: Steven Weinberg, David Bohm, Albert Einstein, Werner Heisenberg.
