Velociraptor Abuse
Wednesday Feb 03
Please put this on your status if you know (or are related to) someone who has been eaten by velociraptors. Being eaten or abused by velociraptors is not something to be ashamed of. 1.3% of the adults 18 to 45 have either died or been bitten by a velociraptor. Another 4.2% have suffered physical or psychologocial trauma while escaping. Another 0.6% are unaccounted for, and we can only assume the worst.

Happy 2010!
Wednesday Jan 06
Happy new year to everyone from DrChinese! I hope your 2010 is even better that 2009!!

In other news: Eric got his driver's license this week, so he is pretty excited about that. I remember when I got my license, it opened up a new world for me.

On second thought, maybe Eric getting his license isn't so good after all... EEEEEKKKSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eeks!
Wednesday Dec 02
After a strange Thanksgiving accident at 2:30am in the morning in front of his house, Tiger Woods has now essentially admitted to having had one or more affairs during much of his marriage. He even is caught on voicemail trying to hide it from his wife. OUCH.

Eeks! My hero is now a fallen angel... I wonder where the story goes from here.

Say NO to Surge in Afghanistan
Monday Oct 12
President Obama is considering a surge in Afghanistan. Have we learned nothing from Vietnam & Iraq?

We just past the 8 year mark in Afghanistan. EIGHT YEARS! And what have we to show for that? Not Osama, he's not on the horizon. We have a situation that is getting worse, not better. And what is the military suggesting as a solution? Why, more troops, imagine that. If only there were more troops, we could WIN.

Dream on, fellow Americans. We *will* withdraw from Afghanistan. The only question is whether it is now or later. Few lives lost or more lives lost. Less cost or more cost. Less embarassment or more.

I oppose the surge in Afghanistan, and suggest withdrawal of most of our existing troops.

And again and again!
Sunday Aug 09
My last entry was a few months back, and today's is simply more of the same. Tiger has played great this year, winning tournaments hosted by Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger himself. Today he defeated Padraig Harrington in an exciting head to head duel. With Padraig ahead on the 16th hold by 1, Tiger birdied 16 and 18 to win. Unfortunately for Padraig, a bad shot on 16 gave him a triple bogey to put him out of contention. Tiger won by 4!

This is the 70th PGA victory for Tiger, who is 33. He is just 3 victories behind Jack's total (73) and 12 behind Sam Snead all-time record of 82. This is Tiger's 7th victory at this event out of 11 times played. Ridiculous!!

Congratulations TIGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Duncan Sheik in McKinney
Monday Mar 16

Terry and I saw Duncan Sheik perform on Valentine's Day in McKinney. The venue was the old courthouse in the city square, which has now been converted to a Performing Arts Center. It is small and intimate, and every seat was good.

The show was opened by some of the younger members of Duncan's touring group, and they were amazing... they were doing originals by each of the members, and had just started trying to perform as a makeshift group.

Then came Duncan, who performed a wide variety of his material. He included generous portions of his current Broadway Musical, Spring Awakening. He also performed material from his new musical, Whisper House. Playing with him was his long-time guitarist, Gerry Leonard. (I got to meet him briefly and get his autograph.) He also did Barely Breathing, On A High, and some of my other favorites.

It all sounded great, and we had a fantastic time!!
